Dr. El-Rayes established the H.R. Mental Wellness Centre in
January 2006 as a service the community. The Centre is operated
by El-Rayes Foundation (A Registered charitable organization). Services
at the Centre complements those offered by medical professionals.
The Centre promotes spiritual healing and uses a holistic approach
that addresses body, mind, and spirit.
Dr. El-Rayes has extensive training and experience as a Business
and Life Coach, support group facilitator, and attended training
on Cognitive Behavior Therapy with Dr. David Burns. His unique approach
in coaching addresses all life aspects (physical, mental, and spiritual).
His coaching style brings impressive results to the clients.
Dr. El-Rayes is especially passionate about helping anxiety/depression
patients through their difficult personal journey to healing. He
thinks that when we are compassionate to those who are suffering
from mental illness or addiction, we show our humanity at its best.
He believes that we can make a difference in our community by
donating our time, money, talents and skills to help others who
are less fortunate. He feels that by helping others in need we make
the outcome of our work last for eternity; the healed individuals
can continue the work by helping others.
Dr. El-Rayes has been volunteering to help people and protect
the environment. He has volunteered with Amnesty International (USA),
Big Brothers (Canada) and worked as a member of the Board of Directors
of the Environmental Industry Association. He also ran in the BC
provincial elections (2005) as a Green Party Candidate to raise
public awareness about environmental, social, and economic issues
in the community.
In his professional career, Dr. El-Rayes has focused on servicing
others. In addition to the Centre, he currently services others
as a facilitator of a support group and a coach to help depression
patients. He worked as a university educator, a researcher and an
environmental consultant. He serviced people in both Canada and
the USA by educating academics, businesses and the public about
the importance of protecting the environment.
Specific examples of positions he occupied in his professional
career included: Manager of a manufacturing company, President of
an environmental consulting firm, Director of the Pollution Prevention
Institute at Kansas State University, and Manager of the Business
and Community Services at Metro Vancouver.
